Care for your dental implants like natural teeth:

No, once your implant is placed and completed, it will be permanently fixed in place and cannot be removed. It functions just like a natural tooth.

We do not currently offer general anesthesia, but we do provide oral conscious sedation. This medication helps relax you and often makes you forget the procedure entirely. We will prescribe it, and you can pick it up at your preferred pharmacy.

Note: You MUST have a driver for this procedure, as you will not be able to drive after taking the sedation medication. Operating a motor vehicle or any machinery is strictly prohibited after taking the medication.

You may experience slight bleeding for the first 24 hours after your implant placement. If you notice excessive bleeding, please contact our office immediately.

An effective home remedy to help with clotting and stop bleeding is the use of tea bags. Simply take a regular tea bag, dampen it, wring out the excess water, and place it on the extraction site(s). The tannic acid in the tea leaves helps promote clotting. You can use multiple tea bags if needed, and replace them as they become saturated with blood. This process can be repeated as many times as necessary.

While experiences may vary, some discomfort and swelling are possible after your procedure. However, many patients report minimal discomfort. You will be prescribed pain medication to help manage any discomfort and ensure a smoother recovery.

We do not currently offer zirconia implants. While titanium implants have been used for decades with a proven track record of success, zirconia implants are relatively new to the market, and their long-term success is still uncertain. Our goal is to provide the most successful, predictable, and long-lasting results for our patients, which is why we focus on titanium implants at this time.

While titanium dental implants have a success rate of over 95%, they can still fail. Some factors that may contribute to implant failure include:

• Failure to integrate into the bone
• Smoking
• Diabetes

If an implant fails within the first year, your dentist will replace it at no additional charge to you.
